Blue hydrogen production involves capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions generated during the steam methane reforming (SMR) process. By preventing the release of CO2 into the atmosphere, blue hydrogen can reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly compared to gray hydrogen production, which does not incorporate carbon capture and storage (CCS).
